About the Complimentary Consultation

By scheduling your complimentary consultation you will have the opportunity to spend 15 minutes discussing your wants and likes with Malissa. This is a time where you can talk about how you envision your cake.  It is your time to begin a thought process so that it can become a roadmap of where you want to go with your cake. We welcome all your ideas, no matter how unique they are. Our goal is to serve you in the best way possible. Pictures, mood boards, even thoughts that we can turn into drawings are great. This gives us an idea of what direction you might be leaning toward. Mood boards are also great because they provide a general idea of what you are looking at as far as a color scheme goes. If you have chosen a certain theme for your wedding that should also be taken into consideration. For example, if your wedding is at the beach, some couples opt for a "beachy" themed cake. This usually includes a blue ombre textured finish to represent waves, accented with coins, seaweed, seahorses and seashells. Another type of themed wedding might be some sort of holiday wedding where artistically designed touches on the cake would reflect the particular holiday being celebrated.  We have done Disney cakes, Halloween cakes in black and orange with 2 skulls as the cake topper, a Christmas cake with Santa and Mrs. Claus and a cake that was made to look like it had been painted with watercolor.  One of our favorites was of a nautical style cake that the bride and groom both felt a connection to. We used navy and white ribbon around the base of each tier and added anchors and a fondant rope to look like mooring line. If you haven't already, we invite you to take a look at our gallery of cakes. Sometimes looking at others' cakes can give you the inspiration you need or provide you with an idea that resonates with you. There are lots of cakes in our gallery and tons of ideas too.

As you continue into this process with Malissa, the next step after the initial consultation (should you decide to book) would be to transfer your imagination to pen and paper. Malissa will draw an initial sketch and this will be your starting point. You can approve, disapprove, make changes, add less and/or subtract more. Malissa will do as many sketches as you need until you are comfortable and happy with your choices, at which point your design will be finalized. Remember that with respect to your cake, we are here to help you achieve your dreams. We are confident that by starting with a complimentary consultation and following the necessary steps you will have ensured the result you are counting on.
